 The
First Family returned to the Valley Thursday, August 12.
First Lady Michelle Obama and her daughters stopped at the A Moment
to Remember restaurant in Luray for lunch. Restaurant workers say
she ate a cheeseburger and loved every bite. They also say she was
very pleasant and down to earth. Server Kate Raeburn says, "When she
walked in, she was a normal person. It was kind of nice, she was
really sweet and she just kind of interacted with me like a normal
person."
"The Secret Service was here Saturday and Monday, and we did not
know that," says restaurant owner John Thomas. "And the head of the
Secret Service detachment who was with her said the food and the
service was excellent and that's why they came back."
After lunch, the family visited Luray Caverns. A caverns
spokesperson says this second visit validates the attraction as "one
of the nation's premier family destinations." Aa motorcade then took the family to Thomas
Jefferson's Monticello.
This is the second trip to
Monticello and Luray for the Obama family, which followed a similar
itinerary during a July 2009 trip. White House sources say this is
the only time the First Family has made a repeat visit to a
location.
